2016 Ends with 8-5 Loss

The Highlanders came up just short for the second year in a row, losing to the Campion Grads in an 8-5 defensive battle in the City Final.

Not much can be said about the season or the game that hasn’t been said.

The team played well against a good team. One team scored more points.

There’s only one good way to finish a season, but the boys can be proud of the work they put in, the team that they built, and the effort they gave all season long. We’ve added a lot of talented players to the roster and 2017 is already taking shape.

The HRFC indoor Flag Rugby League will be starting in October, and new players are welcome to join us.

Thanks to the wives, partners, parents and children that came out to support the club – to our sponsors for another great year, to the Staff of the Clubhouse that make that place our home for the summer. Thank you to the players for the hard work they put in – and the opposing teams for providing a summer of close-fought, entertaining rugby.

Good luck to the Grads and the Oats in next week’s Provincial Final.

See you in 2017.
